DCMA Membership


Eligibility

There shall be three types of memberships. All who are members prior to the adoption of these Bylaws shall be grand-fathered into an active membership.

Active
Persons 18 years of age and older who are residents of Georgia and are in good standing with the American Kennel Club. They shall have the right to vote and hold office.

Associate
Persons 18 years of age and older who subscribe to the objectives of DCMA and who exhibit an interest in the purposes and activities of the club. These members do not vote or hold office and are not considered in the establishment of a quorum.

Junior
Persons 10 to 17 years of age who subscribe to the objectives of DCMA and who exhibit as interest in the purposes and activities of the club. Upon reaching their 18 birthday, can apply to convert to the appropriate membership category. These members do not vote or hold office and are not considered in the establishment of a quorum.

Membership By-Laws

Dues
Membership dues shall be determined by the member present and voting at the annual meeting based on recommendation by the board. Dues are payable on or before the last day of June each year. Only members whose dues are paid for the current year may vote. During the month of April, the treasurer shall provide each member a statement of dues for the ensuing year.

Election to Membership
Each applicant for membership shall apply on a form approved by the board of directors and which shall provide that the applicant agrees to abide by these Constitution & By-Laws, by the rules of the American Kennel Club, and by the club's Code of Ethics. The applicant shall state the name, address and occupation of the applicant and it shall carry the endorsement of two members of the club. Accompanying the application, the prospective member shall submit dues payment for the current year. However, subject to waiver by two-thirds vote of the members present and voting at a regular meeting of the club, no one shall be, considered for membership who has not attended at least two regular meetings of the club within 12 months preceding the date of application for membership.
All applicants are to be filed with the secretary and each application is to be read at the first regular meeting of the club following its receipt. At the first regaular meeting at which the membership requirements have been met. the application shall be voted upon and affirmative votes of two-thirds of the members present and voting shall be required to elect the applicant. NO person whose application has been rejected may re-apply within six months of such rejection.

Termination of Membership

RESIGNATION
Any member in good standing may resign from the club upon written notice to the secretary but no member may resign when in debt to the club.

LAPSING
A membership shall be considered as lapsed and automatically terminated if such member's dues remain unpaid after the first day of June. However, the board of directors may grant a 30 day grace period to such delinquent members in meritorious cases.

EXPULSION
A membership may be terminated by expulsion as provided for in Article VI of these By-Laws.

No member of this club shall judge the regular classes of a speciality show conducted by the club.
